Omar Little
"Come at the king, you best not miss."
There's something to be said for a man with a code. Omar, with his sawed-off draped under his duster as he prowls the streets of THE WIRE's fictional Baltimore, has a code. He ain't never put his gun on no citizen. No taxpayers. He only robs drug dealers.
How does one rob drug dealers for a living and survive?
"A day at a time, I suppose."
Actually, Omar is more than a stick-up artist. He's a ghetto Robin Hood.
Omar exemplifies everything that THE WIRE is about, a show that has no black and white, only shades of gray.
He carries a weapon without a permit. He uses it on other human beings in the drug game. He steals what doesn't belong to him. Did I mention he's gay?
He also takes his grandmother to church once a month. He eats Honey Nut Cheerios like a good middle American. He gives to the poor, whether it's a score for a fiend or cleaning up the streets. He doesn't curse.
Flaws, complexities & all, Omar is the best character on the best television series. Ever.
